History

Maplewood Covenant Church

The following is taken from an article written about 25 years ago and tells briefly the story of the founding of our church:

"Forty-seven years ago in St. Paul, Minnesota, there was a young person with a dream. She didn't drive a car, she wasn't a preacher, she was not wealthy: all she had was the gift that Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 13. She had love -- she loved the children in her neighborhood and her dream was that they should have the opportunity to attend Sunday School. So she got permission from the local school board to use the school building. She wrote a letter that was distributed among the families of the community. She talked to some of her friends so that they would help her teach the Sunday school, and by and by some classes began. Thirteen children showed up the first Sunday. Not many. But there were thirteen -- thirteen children whose parents would allow them to come and hear about Jesus Christ. And today, because this young lady had nothing but a love for children and a love for Jesus, there is a church in surburban St. Paul called the Maplewood Covenant Church."

Several years after the founding of that Sunday School, in October 1945, the church was organized. After several years of meeting in the school building, the church sanctuary was constructed in 1951 and 1952, with an addition to the building being added in 1968.

Today we remain dedicated to the mission that originally gave birth to the church -- a love for people and for God and a desire to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our neighbors. We are striving to reach out and to communicate that message in new ways, and we are determined to have a positive impact in our community and our world. We invite you to join us as we write the next chapter in our history together.

I have loved you the way the Father loved Me.

Make yourselves at home in My love. -- Jesus
