At the front of our sanctuary, you will see this stained
glass window. The window is not just there for decoration, though it is beautiful to look at. It is there as a
reminder of why we exist as a church. The window bears this inscription: Come unto Me. That is Jesus invitation
to all of us, and it is an invitation we are delighted to pass on to you.
Just about all religions in the end result in the same thing: People "working
their heads off to please God," trying to somehow earn His approval and thus earn salvation. Christianity
is different (although we Christians so easly slip back into the same pattern). It is not about what we can do
for God. It is about what God has already done for us. Christianity is all about grace. You don't have to
strive to be good enough to earn anything from God. The fact is you could never live a life good enough to earn
God's love. The good news is that God loves you anyway, and He sent His Son to die on the cross for you.
Jesus' death paid the penalty for your sin. So you can stop worrying about trying to earn God's love. All you need
to do is accept the gift that Jesus offers you. Accept His forgiveness, and ask Him to come into your heart and
empower you to live differently. He will do it!
There is no one else who can give you what Jesus offers. He alone is God. He
alone lived a perfect life. He alone is able to give eternal life to those who trust in Him.
Let me share with you just a few verses from God's Word, the Bible:
I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me . . . shall never
die. Never! John 11:26-7
I am the way, and the truth, and the life. no one comes to the Father, but
by Me. John 14:6
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
Jesus' offer of etenal life is held out to everyone. It doesn't matter what you have done, or what you haven't
done. It is a gift. A beautiful gift. Especially for you! All you have to do is open it. Please accept Jesus' gift
of forgiveness and eternal life today.
If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to email us or to call us. It would be our pleasure
to speak with you.
